After a record breaking season that included a 27 game win streak, 66 regular season wins and Lebron James being named MVP for the fourth time, The Miami Heat capped off their incredible run with back-to-back championships. There are only five teams in this elite NBA fraternity  to ever accomplish this: Bulls, Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, Rockets. And now you can add The Miami Heat to the list. But alas, as much as we love rooting for our favorite sports teams, we understand that it IS a business (you do understand that, right?); players get traded, behind the scenes deals get made, etcetera etc.

So now that the season’s over, the journey through speculationville will commence. Undoubtedly, the Skip Bayless’s of the world will continue to spew their hatred, but there’s one issue that’s sure to be a buzz on ESPN  before next season’s trade deadline. And that’s what will become of the big three: James, Wade and Bosh. If the epic celebration parade, and subsequent party inside the American Airlines Arena was any indication, The Heat organization will stick to the old adage, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” miami heat win, nba champions, confetti, miami, basketball, south beach american airlines arena

The AAA celebration not only featured fan favorites like Chris “Birdman” Andersen, but there was also an official presentation from the city of Miami commissioners, declaring June 24, 2013, Miami Heat Day. It’s not as if the city of Miami needs help in the notoriety department, but with all the fanfare our current world champs have brought us, they’re sure to be Miami Heat detractors doubling down on their criticism. But I digress, the topic at hand is the future ofThe Heat. When asked by Jason Jackson what the “main thing” about this whole experience is for him, Lebron James answered by saying, “…the main thing is the main thing, and that’s winning the championship.” So there you have it!

Life Lessons From a Champion: LeBron James

Life Lessons From a Champion: LeBron James

Two years ago, when LeBron James announced “The Decision” to take his talents to South Beach and join The Miami Heat, it was met with much fanfare and controversy. As if Miami needed another reason to be hated, the decision, almost overnight, catapulted The Heat to the unenviable position of the most hated team in sports. LeBron in particular, suffered the brunt of the abuse. The pressure of such immense criticism and scrutiny proved too much, even for a man of his figurative and literal stature. As evidenced by his disappointing performance and subsequent loss in the 2011 NBA Finals, hate and outside noise can derail the best of intentions.

One year later, LeBron James is the NBA MVP, Finals MVP and 2012 World Champion. His transformation and growth came by way of his most profound realization; the biggest challenge to the heart of a champion NEVER comes from the outside, it comes from within! And this is true in every aspect of life!
